Healthy Handles Positions

Healthy Handles are designed to fit everyone.

Your preferred height is accommodated by the depth at which you set the handles on the clamp; your preferred width is accommodated by the angle at which you set the grips. That being said, we highly recommend the following positions and for the following reasons:

GRIPS STRAIGHT DOWN:
Pointing the grips straight down is an ideal position for anyone under 6 feet tall. The woman in this picture is 5'4".  This position is great for your body and creates a natural posture with respect to your elbow position and upper body mechanics. In addition, this position does not increase the width of the stroller, because the rear wheels create a wider footprint. This position is great for narrow walkways and going through doors.
GRIPS STRAIGHT UP:
Pointing the grips straight up is an ideal position for anyone 6 feet tall or taller. The man in this picture is 6'1".  This position creates a natural posture with respect to your elbow position and upper body mechanics. In addition, this position does not increase the width of the stroller. This position is great for narrow walkways and going through doors. Taller folks can now walk perfectly upright and with a proud posture.
HARLEY STYLE:
This position is a lot of fun. If you have the room to operate the stroller in this position, it allows the most comfortable wide-grip solution. You also feel pretty cool “driving” the stroller, and there is plenty of room between the handles for your abdomen, which creates ideal body mechanics. Get your motor running!
SHARE THE LOAD / TANDEM:
This position is ideal for two reasons. First, it allows both parents to “share the load” and walk along each side of the stroller. You can even see your baby from this position! Second, it is a great way to transport your child at the beach! Simply tighten the clamp; put the stroller in reverse and each parent can grab and lift their side so only the front wheel is moving through the dry sand. For those of you who live along the coast, you know how difficult it can be to push the stroller through the dry sand as you head toward the firmer damp sand to walk or jog!
ANGLED UPWARD AND TOWARD EACH OTHER:
If you angle the left grip to 2 o’clock and the right grip to 10 o’clock, the result is a nifty position that is a definite improvement over the existing shape of the handlebar.  The woman in this picture is using a double stroller and she stands 5' 3".  It should be noted that those of you with DOUBLE STROLLERS can benefit the most by using this position. This position (when used with double strollers) creates a “body space” in between the handles to correct posture and body mechanics during movement.
STOWED or STANDARD EXTENSION
This position illustrates the simple and out-of-the-way condition in which Healthy Handles reside when not in use. They do not interfere with your stroller's collapse or get in the way of the original handlebar. This position, when pulled up through the clamps, acts as a simple extension for taller folks who like the position of the handle.
